Six Arrested in Long Island Raid on Illegal Gambling and Casino Sites
On Thursday, six Farmingdale, Long Island residents were arrested and charged with running illegal casino sites.  The six people had allegedly been hosting games of Texas Hold’em for a profit, which is illegal in New York State.

Some observers on Long Island expressed the belief that Texas Hold’em should not be considered as a gambling game at all.  John Baerlin, who owns the Long online casinos
Island Poker and Casino store in West Babylon, which equips casino sites, said that "I think it's a shame that a game in New York State like 'Texas Hold 'em' is illegal."

The casino sites supplier added, "I believe it's a game of skill, not chance. But it's considered a gambling game according to the New York State Constitution, so it is illegal."

Baerlin said that he was not at all surprised that the police have found a multitude of illegal casino sites, particularly Texas Hold ‘em clubs, in recent years.

"Illegal clubs have been around for years. 'Texas Hold 'em' is just the game of the year. These clubs exist."

The six people were arrested when Nassau County police raided a warehouse on Secatogue Avenue in Farmingdale.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer said in a statement that illegal casino sites will not be tolerated.  "The public should be put on notice that if they engage in illegal gambling, we are going to be taking action.”
